Garbage Collection


Residential Collection Rate:

Inside City limits:                                  $15.40

If
service
is terminated because of non-payment, a reconnect fee of $15.00 plus the outstanding balance must be paid  before service will be restored.
Garbage collection for residential customers is billed 1 month in advance. Garbage needs to be put out by 6:30 am on the day of pick-up. Customers are allowed 5 large bags per week.

Special pick up

City residents have free pick-up of 2 large items per month. Always on Tuesday except when the crew has to make a double run that week due to a Holiday. Special pick up needs to be called in Wednesday through Monday before pick-up day.
The following items will NOT be picked up: household garbage, construction debris, appliances with freon, containers with liquids (paint cans, oil, cleaners, etc.), TVs.

TVs can be dropped off at the Transfer Station at a fee of $0.20 per pound.

Recycle

Curb side pick up for residents within city limits.

Pick up will be every other week on Wednesday or Thursday depending on your street address.



Wednesdays: West side of town (from Sigler Street to West Pointe)
Thursdays: East side of town (from Sigler Street to Eagles Club)
Recycle must be in clear bags!
Keep seperate from regular household trash.

Plastic:
#1 or #2 only! Look on the bottle inside the recycling emblem. Any others will cause your recycling to be rejected.

Paper/Shredded:
office paper, copy paper, fax paper, envelopes (with or w/o window), laser printer paper, computer printouts, student notebook paper, manilla envelopes, self-adhesive note pads, calculator paper, greeting cards, brochures, manuals, junk ,ail, ...

Newspaper:
can include magazines catalogs, inserts, etc.

Aluminum Cans:
Cans only! Rinse only - label does not need to be removed.
No pie pans, aluminum foil etc.

Steel Cans:
Vegetables, soups, etc. cans only. No other type of steel.
Rinse only - label does not need to be removed.

Cardboard:
Corrugated cardboard only!
Cardboard must be broken down and dry.
Please tie or bind if possible.


Transfer Station

Opening times: Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 3:00 pm
Loads accepted no later than 2:30 pm.

The transfer station is located at the bottom of Shower Bath Road. The fee is based on $63.35 per ton of material. Items not accepted are tires, yard waste, burnt lumber, liquids and appliances with freon.

Dumpsters

Rentals, delivery and pick up is available through our transfer station service.

  2017 SPRING CLEAN UP  

From April 1 through October 31, 2017 (tentative)
Monday - Saturday 7:00 am - 3:00 pm
Loads accepted no later than 2:30 pm.


Special ticket must be presented to the attendant at the Kingwood transfer station prior to the weighing of one (1) free pick-up load (minimum load) for the 2012 Spring Clean-Up Season.

Tickets only available at City Hall to eligible residential garbage customers of the City of Kingwood who are current and up-to-date on payments. New customers will be required 3 months of service prior to being eligible.
